Crisis Support and Mental Health Lines

The Hope for Wellness Help Line offers immediate mental health counselling and crisis intervention to all Indigenous peoples across Canada. Call toll-free 1-855-242-3310,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

VI Crisis Society operates a 24-hour emotional support via the telephone and Chat/Text support from 6-10 p.m, 7 days a week. 24/7 Crisis Line: 1-888-494-3888

Crisis Centre Chat is an online chat service for adults (25+) living in B.C, where people can chat one-on-one with trained volunteers. 

Youth in BC has compiled a list of 24 hour crisis lines for the greater Vancouver area,
Howe Sounds & Sunshine Coast, and  TTY. This list also includes the Senior’s Distress Line, Suicide hotline, and online services for adults. Online chat is also available from noon to 1 am in BC and Yukon.

VictimLinkBC is a toll-free, confidential, multilingual service that provides crisis support and other resources to victims of family and sexual violence, human

trafficking, and other exploitation of services. 24/7 availability for individuals in BC and the Yukon.

Offers 24/7 crisis support line. Also offers hospital and court accompaniment. 

Lists many online chat and phone lines.

Provides phone call or text counselling hen you're having a rough time. There is also some educational resources. The service is provided as a part of being a BC secondary student, so registration is required, but it is easy and confidential.

Counselling and Psychological Services

Victoria Disability Resource Centre maintains a resource list of more than 20 organizations in Greater Victoria that offer either free or low cost counselling services.

Vancouver Island Psychological Services offers psychological services, including both assessment and treatment services.

Foundry offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness resources, services and supports – online and through integrated service centres in communities across BC. They also offer virtual services and a 4-step tool called 'Pathfinder' that helps you find personalized support options.​

Helps guide community members in searching for local mental health resources specific to their needs, in addition to offering free support calls. They also host education and training events as well as various community events.

Publicly funded by Vancouver Coast Health (VCH), Kelty's key provides online therapy services from certified CBT trained therapists. Their website also provides self-help resources for anxiety, chronic pain, complicated grief, depression, family support, insomnia, panic and substance use problems.

A search engine for finding private practice therapists in Victoria. Can be filtered depending on the topics you want to address. 

University of Victoria Student Resources 

UVic has launched the SupportConnect program that offers free, 24/7 short-term solution-based counselling (with the same counsellor). Students are encouraged to reach out for any reason no matter the size.

This resource can also offer referrals for cCBT (computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

A student-run blog affiliated with Uvic that is centred around Mental Health topics. 

This is a list of social and academic connections on campus to connect with others which includes workshops and groups, career exploration and personal counselling.

Offers religious and spiritual support, and provide's spiritual care for the Uvic community. Offers mindfulness and meditation, prayer, weekly activities, retreats and workshops on a variety of topics. 

The Peer Support Centre (located in the Student Union Building on campus) offers in person and online first-point-of-contact support from trained student volunteers. These volunteers provide non-judgmental, empathetic and confidential support while helping fellow students navigate next-step resources and student life at Uvic.

Shares stories of Uvic faculty and almuni's experiences as students, with the aim of creating a more compassionate, supportive, humane, and loving campus culture. These stories are shared through videos which can also be found on the Uvic website, as well as the Uvic Bounce Podcast

The Psychology Clinic on Uvic campus is a training facility for clinical psychology graduate students, who provide professional psychological services to the community, including assessments and therapeutic interventions for children, adults, couples and families. The services are provided by students in the M.Sc and Ph.D clinical psychology programs under the supervision of Registered Clinic Psychologists. 

For assessment and psychotherapy services, a referral is needed by a physician or health care professional.

An evidence-based app to prevent and manage stress, anxiety, and related conditions by helping to monitor mood and provides a "thought trainer" program based on CBT to help manage negative thoughts. It also offers relaxation techniques like meditation and deep muscle relaxation which has shown to help with coping during stressful times. 

Uses strategies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help users develop effective methods of thinking, with the goal of overcoming anxiety. Includes mindfulness and relaxation strategies.

For managing stress and anxiety. The app also includes tips and evidence-based coping strategies to help users manage their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helps users understand and adopt a simple mindfulness practice, which can help reduce stress, improve emotional balance and help with anxiety and depression.

Helps users learn about and manage their PTSD symptoms, and includes education, self-assessment tools and resources.

With a focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for insomnia, this app includes a number of tools for managing, monitoring and learning about sleep schedules.

Daily goals and tools to reduce stress and develop positive mental health habits.

Provides tailored, evidence-based "missions" based on mood input. This app is useful for the development and practice of effective coping skills.

Provides self-care, peer support, coaching, and therapy. 

Provides tools for improving sleep quality, reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus and other self-improvement goals. 

Daily self-care app, with meditations, mood reflections, with a premium version which offers support from trained mental health experts.

Uses CBT along with ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) strategies to help redirect negative thoughts and feelings. 

Guided meditation videos/audios to develop and improve on mindfulness in many different areas from sleep, relaxation, breathing exercises, mindful eating, meditation at work etc.
