"Breakthroughs in depression research may lead to more effective treatments"

For many years, patients have had to experience inefficient process to match them with appropriate antidepressants. These processes often involved trial and error with different antidepressants, until the correct antidepressant was matched with the patient (Trivedi, 2020).


However, a new advancement in treating depression has been made! By combining "a blood test, brain imaging, and artificial intelligence, we’re [now] able to assess patients’ biological signatures and move past the guessing game of choosing depression treatments" (Trivedi, 2020).
