Researchers investigated interpretation biases, specifically explicit, decision based, implicit, reaction-time interpretation bias in individuals in social anxiety disorder (SAD), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and non-clinical controls.

Researchers investigated interpretation biases, specifically explicit, decision based, implicit, reaction-time interpretation bias in individuals with social anxiety disorder (SAD), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and non-clinical controls. Authors used an adapted WSAP to compile data. The results showed that interpretation bias occurred trans diagnostically and content-specific bias patterns varied across groups. BDD and SAD shared explicit and implicit biases for appearance-related and social situations. Individuals with GAD showed explicit and implicit negative bias for general situations and implicit lack of positive bias. Interpretation bias patterns were driven predominantly by speeded information uptake, possibly mirroring disorder-specific associated memory organization.
