Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is an underdiagnosed condition which has minimal research to support a valid treatment. Consequently, it is not clear how mental health practitioners approach NPD patients or the outcomes of their clinical management; this article aims to explore the attitudes of clinicians treating NPD patients. They used a 16 question survey about clinicians experiences working with NPD patients with 173 participants. In sum, clinicians report minimal experience treating NPD and high treatment drop-out rates, the patients they do treat they find to be difficult and challenging. The results also show that clinicians feel group therapy can be beneficial in treating NPD although it is not often offered.
